China CDC expert: currently, many kinds of respiratory infectious diseases are known, and no new infectious diseases have emerged

The National Health Committee held a press conference today to introduce the prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases. Wang Liping, a researcher at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said that we are currently in the high-incidence season for respiratory infections, and multiple pathogens may cause respiratory infections. Monitoring shows that flu is the main disease causing patients with acute respiratory infections to seek medical treatment in current medical institutions.

According to monitoring data, influenza is currently in a seasonal outbreak, with most provinces experiencing moderate levels of activity. Currently, the upward trend in flu-positive rates has slowed down. With the陆续 holiday of primary and secondary schools across the country, it is expected that the level of flu activity may decrease in the middle to late part of this month.

Human metapneumovirus is not a new virus. It has been with humans for at least several decades. Due to the development of testing methods, more related reports have appeared in recent years. Currently, the positive rate of human metapneumovirus testing is fluctuating on a platform, with a decrease in positive rates in northern provinces and a decrease in positive rates among cases involving individuals aged 14 and below. The positive rate of respiratory syncytial virus is fluctuating upward among the 0-4 age group. The positive rates for rhinovirus, Mycoplasma pneumonia, and adenovirus are showing a decreasing trend. Other respiratory pathogens such as the novel coronavirus are at low levels of circulation. Overall, this winter and spring will still show an alternating or superimposed epidemic trend, but all are known pathogens without new infectious diseases emerging. The overall intensity of circulation and pressure on medical services will not be higher than last year.
