In 2025, which marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Serbia, the opening of this route has added another air travel destination for China’s “Belt and Road” initiative to Shanghai, further enriching Shanghai Airport’s international route network layout and building a more convenient air bridge for economic, trade, tourism and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Serbia.

The route is operated by Airbus A330 of Serbian Airlines. Currently, it is scheduled to operate twice a week with a 22:25 Beijing time departure from Shanghai Pudong Airport to Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport every Wednesday and Sunday, arriving at the airport at local time 04:45 the next day. It also departs from Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport at local time 00:40 on Tuesdays and Saturdays to arrive at Shanghai Pudong Airport at Beijing time 18:55.

Last year, Shanghai Airport actively worked with airlines to increase the frequency of 19 international routes and resume 8 international routes. Among them, Marseille in France, Venice in Italy, Manama in Bahrain and Kazan in Russia were the first international routes for Shanghai. Its hub network covers 291 destinations in 48 countries around the world.
