The first direct flight route from Shanghai to Belgrade has been opened, with two flights per week.
On January 12th, reporters from The Paper (www.thepaper.cn) learned from Shanghai Airport Group that at 18:47 on January 11th, the Serbian Airlines JU986 (Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport – Shanghai Pudong Airport) flight successfully landed at Pudong Airport and passed through the “water arch” symbolizing the highest honor in civil aviation. The first direct route from Shanghai to Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, was officially opened.

In 2025, which marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Serbia, the opening of this route will add another air travel destination to Shanghai from a “Belt and Road” co-construction country, further enriching the international route network layout of Shanghai Airport and building a more convenient air bridge for economic, trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Serbia.
The route is operated by Airbus A330 of Serbian Airlines. Currently, it is scheduled to operate twice a week, departing from Shanghai Pudong Airport to Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport at 22:25 Beijing time on Wednesdays and Sundays, arriving at the local time the next day at 04:45. It also departs from Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport to Shanghai Pudong Airport at 00:40 local time on Tuesdays and Saturdays, arriving at 18:55 Beijing time.
Last year, Shanghai Airport actively cooperated with airlines to encrypt 19 international routes and restore 8 international routes. Among them, Marseille in France, Venice in Italy, Manama in Bahrain, and Kazan in Russia were the first international routes. The hub network covers 291 destinations in 48 countries around the world.
