Earlier, the 20th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party held its fourth plenary session from January 6th to 8th in Beijing. The plenary session proposed to improve mechanisms for investigating both improper conduct and corruption simultaneously, vigorously pushing forward integrated rectification and anti-corruption efforts. By enforcing harsh punishment on issues that are intertwined with corruption and improper conduct while adhering to the spirit of the Central Eight Rules, it emphasizes rectifying improper conduct without exception. It also focuses on tackling corruption cases that involve both political and economic issues, particularly in areas such as finance, state-owned enterprises, energy, firefighting, tobacco, medicine, universities, sports, development zones, engineering construction, bidding, etc., with an emphasis on addressing difficulties in detecting novel forms of corruption or hidden corruption. It also seriously investigates cases where officials abuse their authority or neglect their duties due to poor decision-making which leads to significant state asset losses as well as those who consistently lure officials into their schemes harmful to one party or region by intensifying cross-border corruption governance efforts.
