Wu Haitao, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and secretary general of the provincial party committee, has been appointed as the secretary of the Xiangyang Municipal Party Committee.
According to the WeChat official account of “Hubei Daily”, on January 4th, Hubei Provincial Party Secretary Wang Zhonglin attended a leading cadre conference in Xiangyang City and made a speech. Zhang Wenbing, member of the Provincial Party Committee and head of the Organization Department, presided over the meeting and read out the decision of the Provincial Party Committee on the adjustment of the secretary of Xiangyang Municipal Party Committee. Provincial Party Committee member and Secretary of Xiangyang Municipal Party Committee Wu Haitao attended the meeting and also made a speech.
The above information indicates that Wu Haitao, member of the Standing Committee of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, has been appointed as the Secretary of Xiangyang Municipal Party Committee.
Public information shows that Wu Haitao is a male, Han nationality, born in Yingshan, Hubei on June 1967. He has an undergraduate degree obtained through part-time study and began his career in July 1986. He joined the Communist Party of China in January 1991. He previously served as the member of the Standing Committee of the Organization Department and United Front Work Department of Ezhou City, the head of the Organization Department of Yichang City, Deputy Secretary of the Yichang Municipal Party Committee and head of the Political and Legal Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Xiaogan Municipal Party Committee and mayor. He served as the secretary of Xiaogan Municipal Party Committee in October 2020.
In January 2023, Wu Haitao was promoted to Deputy Governor of Hubei Province, responsible for water conservancy, agriculture and rural affairs, affairs related to ex-servicemen, and rural revitalization work. In November 2023, Wu Haitao was appointed as member of Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.
Wang Qiyang who previously held the position as member of Standing Committee of Hubei Provincial Party Committee and secretary of Xiangyang Municipal Party Committee has been transferred to serve as member of Standing Committee of Hainan Provincial Party Committee and secretary of Sanya Municipal Party Committee in December 2024.
