Jiang Pengju, deputy mayor of Changzhou, has a new position
According to the website of the Changzhou Committee of the China Party for Public Interest, on December 28th, 2024, the second general meeting of members of the Changzhou Overseas Chinese Alumni Association (Changzhou Overseas Students Association) was held in the municipal administrative center. At the meeting, Jiang Pengju, deputy director of the provincial committee of the Party for Public Interest, head of the Changzhou committee, and vice mayor of Changzhou, was appointed honorary president.

Jiang Pengju is a male member of the Party for Public Interest who was born in January 1979. He holds a PhD degree and has extensive academic experience. According to public records, Jiang obtained his master’s degree from Nanjing University in 2004 and went on to pursue his PhD at Oxford University, where he became a postdoctoral researcher in the best structural biology laboratory in the world. He returned to China in 2010 and served as the deputy director of the Changzhou Science and Technology Bureau. In 2019, he was transferred to serve as the deputy director of the Changzhou Science and Education City Management Committee and was also appointed as the first president of the newly established Changzhou Overseas Chinese Alumni Association.
In February 2022, Jiang Pengju was elected as a vice mayor of the Changzhou People’s Government responsible for science and technology, culture, radio and television, tourism, cultural relics, and sports.
It is worth mentioning that in April 2024, the first stop of the Phoenix Legend 2024 tour concert was held in Changzhou. Many netizens have seen a video of the concert on social media platforms such as Douyin and Weibo, which was posted by Jiang Pengju. From his daily posts and comments, netizens discovered that it was actually posted by Jiang Pengju, the vice mayor of Changzhou.
Jiang Pengju later responded that “I am not there to watch the performance but to ensure their safety and order.” Additionally, a video of Jiang Pengju taking his children to work has also attracted attention.
