China Railway Group: by the end of 2024, the national railway mileage will reach 162,000 kilometers
On January 2nd, the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as China Railway) held its working conference in Beijing.
At the conference, it was pointed out that in 2024, China Railway firmly implemented the decisions and policies of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, focused on serving and supporting China’s modernization drive, and efficiently promoted railway construction. The total fixed asset investment of China’s railways reached 850.6 billion yuan, increased by 11.3% year-on-year, maintaining a high level of operation. New railway lines with a length of 3,113 kilometers were put into operation, including 2,457 kilometers of high-speed rail, showing remarkable achievements in railway construction.
The conference also emphasized that China Railway focused on the 102 major railway projects and “two key” projects identified in the national “14th Five-Year Plan” outline. By intensifying implementation efforts, 17 projects such as the high-speed railway from Yichang to Fuling in Chongqing, the section from Wuping to Meizhou West on the high-speed railway from Longyan to Longchuan, and the section from Wuwei to Zhangye on the high-speed railway from Lanzhou to Zhangye were started. Meanwhile, 42 projects including the high-speed railway from Hangzhou to Yiwu to Wenzhou, the high-speed railway from Chizhou to Huangshan, and the high-speed railway from Shanghai via Suzhou to Huzhou were opened for operation. By focusing on network connection, network improvement, and strengthening of industrial chains, early-stage work on projects was conducted in depth. The feasibility studies for 20 projects including the expansion and reconstruction of the Jiamusi-Tongjiang Railway were approved. By accelerating the construction of logistics infrastructure, 44 railway sidings and 12 logistics bases were completed.
By the end of 2024, the total length of China’s railway operation reached 162,000 kilometers, including 48,000 kilometers of high-speed rail.
