Xu Jian has been appointed as the vice mayor of Chongqing across provinces, previously serving as secretary of the Qingpu District Party Committee in Shanghai.

On December 27th, the Chongqing People’s Congress website announced a notice from the Standing Committee of Chongqing People’s Congress. One of the decisions announced was to appoint Xu Jian as the vice governor of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government.

Xu Jian (profile picture) is a male of Han ethnicity, born in July 1972 in Hefei, Anhui province. He holds a bachelor’s degree in public management and is a senior engineer as well as a member of the Communist Party of China.

He has long been working in Shanghai where he previously served as the deputy secretary and later as the secretary of Qingpu District Committee. He has recently transferred to Chongqing for work.
