Vocational school student’s failure to fold his quilt leads to a week of power cut-off? School: It’s only the socket power was cut off, not the total room power.

A student in Sichuan Vocational College of Electronics and Information Technology lodged a complaint that he was punished by the school for not making his bed, resulting in a week-long power cut in his dormitory. Recently, the college responded that according to the school’s dormitory management regulations, for dormitories that fail to meet hygiene standards repeatedly, the school has the right to take certain management measures. The teacher only disconnected the socket power supply in the dormitory, which would not affect the student’s life and study.

The student questioned in his complaint whether not making the bed was a serious issue and expressed his confusion about the school’s action.

Sichuan Vocational College of Electronics and Information Technology later responded on the “Ask Politics in Sichuan” online platform. It said that in the recent dormitory hygiene inspection, the student’s dormitory failed to meet hygiene standards due to reasons such as repeatedly not making the bed and not responding to criticism and education. According to the school’s dormitory management regulations, for dormitories that fail to meet hygiene standards repeatedly, the school has the right to take certain management measures. The teacher responsible for dormitory management took the measure of disconnecting the socket power supply in the dormitory for five days. The power supply was restored on December 9th, 2024. The school also clarified that the teacher did not disconnect the main power supply of the dormitory, so it did not affect the normal life of students.

After explanation and education in person by counselors, the student has understood his mistake and expressed his intention to correct it. The school will guide students to develop good hygiene habits.
