From January 5th next year, the railway operation diagram of the Yangtze River Delta will be updated: a new circular high-speed railway will be added
Starting from January 5, 2025 at zero time, the national railway will implement the train operation chart for the first quarter of 2025. On December 24th, reporters from The Paper (www.thepaper.cn) learned from China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “China Railway Shanghai Group”) that a new chart will be introduced, which will increase the number of morning rush hour commuter trains between Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai. The Yangtze River Delta railway will arrange the operation of 1,391.5 scheduled passenger trains, an increase of 57 pairs compared to the previous chart. The company will also continue to improve the quality of freight transportation and arrange the operation of 1,351 scheduled freight trains after the chart adjustment, both hitting record highs.
In the new chart, the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou high-speed railway (G line) will arrange 114.5 pairs of bullet trains. In addition, the railway department has also launched new loop line products. With the help of the opening of Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou high-speed railway, a new loop train product (G8981/4/1 G8982/3/2) from Shanghai South to Shanghai will be launched, forming a new circular railway network in the Yangtze River Delta from Shanghai South to Huzhou South-Xunhu to Nanjing South to Suzhou to Shanghai, with a travel time of about 5 hours.
The new chart fully utilizes the capacity of newly opened high-speed rail routes such as Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou, Hangzhou-Wenzhou and Xuanji high-speed rail, further optimizing the structure of regional train operations. Taking advantage of the newly added channel capacity of Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou high-speed rail, the structure of train operations in Shanghai area is optimized, and the transportation capacity of Shanghai-Hangzhou corridor is released. In the new chart, a total of 114.5 pairs of bullet trains will be arranged on the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou high-speed railway. An additional 19 pairs of bullet trains will be opened between Shanghai and central cities such as Zhengzhou, Wuhan and Fuzhou, and 33 pairs of intercity bullet trains will be optimized and adjusted for other straight-through directions. Among them, 13 pairs of big-station express trains with fewer stops and shorter travel time will be opened between Shanghai and cities such as Guangzhou, Nanchang and Shenzhen. At the same time, the transportation capacity of Shanghai-Kunming high-speed rail will be improved by opening more pairs of bullet trains between Shanghai and Hangzhou to cities such as Changsha, Huaihua and Guiyang. The division of labor between Shanghai Railway Hub and Hangzhou Railway Hub will be optimized, with an increase of 8 pairs and 26.5 pairs of passenger train handling capacity for Shanghai Hongqiao Station and Shanghai South Station respectively. A total of 72 pairs and 19.5 pairs of passenger train handling capacity will be added for Songjiang Station and Xinzhuang Station in Shanghai, and 42.5 pairs for Hangzhou West Station.
Taking advantage of the transportation capacity of Hangzhou-Wenzhou high-speed rail, the structure of train operations in Zhejiang area is optimized in the new chart. A total of 43 pairs of bullet trains will be arranged on the Hangzhou-Wenzhou high-speed rail, an increase of 24 pairs compared to the current chart. The adjustment of train operations between cities such as Wenzhou, Zhengzhou, Taiyuan and Xi’an will strengthen the connection between southeast coastal cities and central and western regions. The transportation capacity of Xuanji high-speed rail is also used effectively to optimize the structure of train operations in southern Anhui (including Dashi Mountain area). In the new chart, a total of 29 pairs of bullet trains will be arranged on Xuanji high-speed rail, an increase of 18 pairs compared to the current chart. The travel time of G3089 train from Nanjing South to Xiamen North will be compressed by 1 hour and 22 minutes by adjusting its route via Xuanji high-speed rail instead. In addition, more than 60 trains will be added to stop at stations along the Hangzhou-Shenzhen railway to facilitate passengers along the route.
With the continuous expansion of the high-speed rail network in the region, “rail transit network” in Yangtze River Delta has been continuously enriched and improved with loop train products. At present, there are four types of loop train products in Yangtze River Delta railway: “big loop”, “two medium loops” and “small loop”, all operated in both directions.
The previously popular “super loop” high-speed train will now operate in both directions.
