The Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization has issued a document concerning major topics such as large aircraft, 6G, satellite internet, and intelligent connected vehicles.
On December 18, The Paper reported that the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology announced a new policy to further implement the Central Government’s designation of radio frequency spectrum as a fundamental and scarce strategic resource that supports economic and social development, as well as ensuring national security. The policy, titled “Opinions on Accelerating High-Quality Development of Industries Empowered by Radio Frequency in Shanghai,” aims to accelerate the development of new productive forces, promote new industrialization, and drive high-quality growth.
The document emphasizes the focus on future intelligence and space by supporting breakthroughs in cutting-edge 6G technologies, including 6G technology, chip modules, and smart terminals. It also backs the development of satellite internet, low-altitude domains, and electromagnetic spectrum protection.
Additionally, the policy calls for the regulation of wireless communication system frequency management for unmanned aerial vehicles, endorsing the research and application of obstacle-avoidance radar for drones operating in the 24-24.25 GHz and higher frequency bands. It supports radio technology research, testing, and applications in sectors such as large aircraft, marine engineering vessels, satellite internet, and mobile communications, with initiatives for frequency coordination and field testing guidance.
Furthermore, the policy aims to establish dedicated frequency monitoring in pilot demonstration zones for intelligent connected vehicles in regions such as Lingang, Jiading, Jinqiao, and Fengxian, and explore frequency monitoring and evaluation for low-altitude air routes. The “Opinions on Accelerating High-Quality Development of Industries Empowered by Radio Frequency in Shanghai” has been approved by the municipal government and is now officially released.
