Huang Xizhong, a member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department, has been appointed as the Secretary of the Ganzhou Municipal Committee.
According to the WeChat public account “Jiangxi News Broadcast,” a leadership meeting was held in Ganzhou City on December 15, where the Provincial Party Committee announced the decision regarding the adjustment of key leadership positions within the Ganzhou Municipal Committee. According to the Provincial Committee’s decision, Huang Xizhong has been appointed as a member, standing committee member, and secretary of the Ganzhou Municipal Committee.
Huang Xizhong, male, of Han ethnicity, was born in November 1969 and holds a postgraduate degree while being a member of the Communist Party of China.
After graduating from Tsinghua University in 1993, Huang Xizhong worked for many years within Guangdong Province, holding positions in the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Commission, the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and in the urban districts of Chancheng and Shunde in Foshan City. In September 2015, Huang was appointed Vice Mayor of Foshan City, and after more than a year, he became a member of the Municipal Standing Committee while also serving as the Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Municipal Committee. In March 2018, Huang Xizhong was transferred from Foshan to Qingyuan, where he served as the Deputy Secretary, Deputy Mayor, and Acting Mayor of the Municipal Committee, and was formally elected as the Mayor of Qingyuan City the following month.
In December 2019, Huang Xizhong took on a new role as Deputy Secretary of the Nanchang Municipal Committee in Jiangxi Province and was nominated as a candidate for the Mayor of Nanchang City. In May 2020, he was elected Mayor of the Nanchang Municipal Government.
In February 2021, Huang Xizhong was transferred to serve as the Secretary of the Yingtan Municipal Committee, and in November 2021, he became a member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangxi Provincial Committee, later taking on the roles of Provincial Standing Committee member and Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Provincial Committee.
The former Secretary of the Ganzhou Municipal Committee, Wu Zhongqiong, was born in September 1964 and had been in office since 2021.
