Taking a whole day, multiple party and government departments initiated a “brainstorming” session.
Recently, several regions dedicated an entire day to strategizing for work in 2025.
According to Jiangxi Daily, on December 14, the Jiangxi Provincial Committee held a collective study session of the provincial theoretical learning center and a planning meeting, utilizing the day to further liberate thoughts and encourage progress. This gathering aimed to analyze the current situation and plan for the upcoming year’s work, with Provincial Party Secretary Yin Hong presiding and delivering a speech. Attendees included provincial leaders such as Ye Jianchun, Chen Yongqi, Ma Senshu, Li Hongjun, Ren Zhufeng, Zhuang Zhaolin, Bao Zemin, Huang Xizhong, Luo Xiaoyun, Chen Min, and Lu Xiaoqing.
The report mentioned that 26 leaders from various provinces, district-level cities, relevant provincial departments, key provincial enterprises, and central agencies stationed in Jiangxi shared their insights. They engaged in deep reflection, addressed core issues directly, and did not shy away from challenges. Instead, they maintained a pragmatic approach by proposing feasible suggestions rooted in reform and innovation.
Yin Hong pointed out that since the beginning of this year, the whole province has deeply implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches during his inspection of Jiangxi. The province has consistently strived for improvement month by month and quarter by quarter, resulting in overall stable and progressively advancing economic operations. It is crucial to accurately grasp the current economic landscape, maintain strategic resolve and clarity, confront difficulties head-on, and reinforce confidence in development. Any prominent issues in the economic operation must be promptly addressed, maximizing favorable conditions to convert all positive factors into tangible progress, thereby promoting sustained and healthy economic development across the province.
In Pingdingshan, Henan Province, the Municipal Committee convened an economic work planning meeting on December 11 to analyze the current economic situation and strategize for the next year, ensuring a strong finish for this year and a good start for the next. The meeting, chaired by Municipal Party Secretary Chen Xiangping, also saw the attendance of Mayor Li Mingjun and Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Committee Yue Jieyong.
According to Pingdingshan Radio and Television Station, city leaders provided working suggestions based on the overall development and their respective practical circumstances. Officials from various counties, city departments, and relevant personnel reported on the completion of this year’s targets and plans for next year, along with their recommendations to the Municipal Committee and government. Chen Xiangping listened attentively, took notes, and collaboratively brainstormed ideas on various issues, emphasizing the importance of fostering a consensus for development.
Chen Xiangping highlighted that next year marks the concluding year of the “14th Five-Year Plan” and the beginning of planning for the “15th Five-Year Plan.” Effectively achieving this year’s objectives and scientifically crafting next year’s economic strategy is crucial for accelerating the modernization of the city. The leadership must reinforce confidence in development and align their understanding with the central government and the provincial party and government’s scientific assessment of the current situation.
In Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, Municipal Party Secretary Du Xiaogang chaired a special meeting on December 6, focusing on a successful closure to this year and a strong opening next year. The meeting involved discussions with eight municipal sectors across the city to analyze existing challenges together and formulate precise responses.
Du Xiaogang stressed that with less than a month left until the year’s end, all departments must maintain focus on their respective sectors and prioritize development and safety. They should approach their work with a proactive mindset, ensuring that all tasks, particularly economic responsibilities, are diligently addressed. Goals must be clearly defined, with efforts to achieve tangible results and address lagging indicators to support the province’s high-quality development.
On December 13, Du Xiaogang again devoted a day to investigate the developments in economically robust towns, specifically in Zhoutie Town and Hudai Town, hosting a meeting to address their developmental demands.
Earlier on December 7, the leadership of Qidong City, Jiangsu Province also spent a full day in a planning meeting.
According to Xinhua Daily, the meeting centered on how Qidong could spearhead the province’s maritime ambitions. Participants analyzed what resources Qidong has and how to effectively promote its maritime strategies. Qidong Municipal Deputy Secretary Gong Xinming recalled that similar extensive “thought storms” only occurred twice in the past 20 years: the first in 1992, ignited by a front-page article in Xinhua Daily, leading to widespread reflection and planning among party members; the second followed the initiation of the Chongqi Bridge project in 2008, which fundamentally changed Qidong’s transportation landscape.
Much of the discussion centered on the perceived deficiencies of Qidong. It was noted that, as a new port area on the Tongzhou Bay, Lvsu Port’s shipping lines and throughput were significantly lower than those of the nearby Taicang Port. Some pointed out that despite having 112 significant marine-related industrial enterprises, Qidong’s overall impact and quality remain lacking. Others analyzed that while Qidong’s fish catch accounted for one-third of the provincial total, it still lagged behind renowned national production areas in terms of recognition. Calls were made to foster a skilled team of party members who are adept at planning, daring to innovate, and capable of implementing strategies.
Through discussions aimed at uncovering practical issues and formulating effective measures, Qidong established a strategic roadmap for enhancing its maritime strengths, focusing on industrial resilience, technological advancement, open trade, and ecological beauty, seeking to create a modern marine industry system and develop a new portal for external trade. The city aims for its marine-related industrial enterprises to achieve tax sales exceeding 90 billion yuan by 2025 and reach 200 billion yuan by 2028, with an annual growth rate of over 30%; by 2025, the coastal area’s economic contribution is targeted to reach 38% of the total city output, further increasing to 42.5% by 2028.
