The Taiwan Affairs Office stated that TSMC has become a “letter of allegiance” for the Democratic Progressive Party authorities to please the United States.

On the morning of December 11, the Taiwan Affairs Office held a regular press conference in the news release hall, where spokesperson Zhu Fenglian answered reporters’ questions regarding recent cross-strait hot issues.

During the conference, a reporter asked about the U.S. possibly requesting TSMC to transfer advanced manufacturing processes to the United States. The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities recently stated that “production in the U.S. will happen sooner or later” and confirmed that TSMC’s board meeting will be held in the U.S. in the first quarter of next year. TSMC’s former chairman, Liu Deyin, remarked that “transferring technology to the U.S. will result in a loss of hundreds of billions of dollars.” Some opinions within Taiwan suggest that if TSMC is completely taken over by the U.S., Taiwan will lose its value. What is your comment on this?

In response, Zhu Fenglian stated that TSMC has become a “certificate of loyalty” for the DPP authorities to please the U.S. As some voices within Taiwan have pointed out, the DPP is determined to “rely on the U.S. to seek independence,” and it is only a matter of time before TSMC becomes “U.S. Semiconductor Company.” If the DPP continues to sell out Taiwan without any bottom line, the advantages of Taiwan’s related industries will inevitably be weakened, and the interests of local enterprises and the public will be harmed. When Taiwan’s value is completely exploited, the “chess piece” will become a “discarded piece,” and local enterprises and the public are increasingly aware of this.

It is important to note that many Taiwanese enterprises have rapidly developed through participation in cross-strait cooperation, which fully demonstrates that working together to strengthen the economy of the Chinese nation is the right path.
