According to previous reports from The Paper, on May 22 of this year, two train stations in the Songjiang area of Shanghai were officially renamed. Shanghai Songjiang Station was renamed Songjiang North Station, while Songjiang South Station was renamed Shanghai Songjiang Station.

The Paper reported that Songjiang North Station, formerly known as Songjiang Railway Station, has a long history and is an important stop on the Shanghai-Hangzhou Railway. Historical records indicate that construction of the Suzhou-Zhejiang Railway (Shanghai-Hangzhou Line) began in November 1906. The section from Shanghai to Fengjing was completed and opened to traffic in March 1908, marking the beginning of railway transport in Songjiang County. On July 28, 1909, the entire Shanghai-Hangzhou Line was opened, with a length of 39.9 kilometers within Songjiang County. The station building was destroyed by Japanese forces during their invasion of China in September 1937, and it was rebuilt in 1941, with the main structure of the station remaining in use until the end of the last century.

In 1998, the station building began to be demolished, and the most recent renovation of the train station was completed around 2001, remaining unchanged since then.

According to the Shanghai Railway Bureau, the Hu-Su-Lake High-Speed Railway began trial operations on November 23, and the countdown to its full operation has begun. Shanghai Songjiang Station will be put into use at that time.
