Guangdong Provincial Safety Committee: Deeply learn from the lessons of the major collapse accident of the Shenzhen-Shenjiang Railway and study the deployment of special rectification measures.

On the afternoon of December 8, the Guangdong Provincial Safety Committee held a video conference on safety prevention work across the province. The meeting aimed to deeply study and implement the important discourse of General Secretary Xi Jinping on production safety, as well as to carry out the decisions and deployments of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council regarding the investigation and rectification of major accident hazards. It also focused on earnestly implementing the instructions and requirements of the main leaders of the provincial party committee and provincial government, profoundly learning from the lessons of the major collapse accident of the Shenzhen Shenjiang Railway, and planning special actions for safety production and natural disaster risk investigation and rectification in Guangdong Province for this winter and next spring. The meeting mobilized all levels of the province to make every effort to resolutely prevent and curb various disaster accidents. Zhang Hu, a member of the provincial standing committee and executive vice governor, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

The meeting pointed out that the major collapse accident of the Shenzhen Shenjiang Railway serves as a stark reminder that safety production cannot be neglected for a moment, and there is no room for complacency. It is essential to deeply reflect and learn from this incident, recognizing the extreme importance of safety production from a political perspective. The meeting emphasized the need to adhere to bottom-line thinking and extreme thinking, firmly shouldering the political responsibility of ensuring the safety of people’s lives and property.

The meeting stressed the immediate need to carry out special investigations and rectifications for safety production in the construction sector, comprehensively identifying and addressing various major risks and hazards to prevent similar accidents from occurring again. It called for a swift investigation and rectification of safety production risks and hazards in key areas, focusing on priority industries and continuously promoting genuine investigations, corrections, and implementations of risk hazards. Additionally, it highlighted the importance of solidly conducting investigations and rectifications of natural disaster risks and hazards, orderly carrying out winter and spring relief work, strengthening duty and emergency preparedness, and effectively ensuring all work related to risk prevention and safety.
