Zhou Wei, a member of the Suzhou Municipal Committee and the Secretary of the Kunshan Municipal Committee, is proposed to be nominated as a candidate for the mayor of a district-level city.
On December 5th, the Organization Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee released a notice regarding the public announcement of candidates for leadership positions in Jiangsu Province.
Among those listed is Zhou Wei, a male of Han ethnicity, born in July 1974. He holds a master’s degree and is a member of the Communist Party of China. Currently, he serves as a member of the Standing Committee of the Suzhou Municipal Committee, Secretary of the Kunshan Municipal Committee, and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone. He is proposed to be nominated as a candidate for the mayor of a district-level city.
Public records indicate that Zhou Wei was born in 1974 in Zhangjiagang, Suzhou. He has previously held positions such as Deputy Secretary-General of the Suzhou Municipal Government, a member of the Standing Committee of the Kunshan Municipal Committee and Minister of the Organization Department, Director of the Suzhou Economic and Information Technology Commission, and Secretary-General of the Suzhou Municipal Government.
In September 2021, Zhou Wei was transferred to serve as Secretary of the Kunshan Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone, overseeing what is known as the “strongest county-level city.” In September 2023, he became a member of the Standing Committee of the Suzhou Municipal Committee while continuing his role as Secretary of the Kunshan Municipal Committee.
