Record High: Total Import-Export Value of the Yangtze River Delta Region Exceeds 13 Trillion Yuan in the First Ten Months
To support the higher-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, Shanghai Customs has launched a specialized campaign to promote the facilitation of cross-border trade, enhancing the efficiency and quality of “smart customs” services and optimizing the business environment at ports.
On December 2, according to statistics provided by Shanghai Customs, the total import and export value of the Yangtze River Delta region in the first 10 months of this year reached 13.21 trillion yuan, setting a new record high and representing a year-on-year increase of 5.3%. This accounted for 36.7% of the nation’s total import and export value.
At the core of the Yangtze River Delta Ecological Green Integrated Development Demonstration Zone, located at the junction of Qingpu in Shanghai, Wujiang in Jiangsu, and Jiaxing in Zhejiang, the landmark “Water Town Living Room” is being built in full swing. A drone marked with “China Customs” slowly ascended into the sky, flying over the construction site to monitor the surrounding environment, with a high-definition camera rapidly capturing everything from a bird’s-eye view. After the drone landed smoothly, over 100 images were transmitted to the Shanghai Customs Technical Center for Animal, Plant, and Food Inspection and Quarantine via 5G network. The drone imagery covered various inaccessible areas such as swamps, forests, and mudflats. Using these image data, laboratory experts can accurately and efficiently create a “portrait of the ecological environment in the Yangtze River Delta Demonstration Zone,” significantly enhancing the effectiveness of monitoring for invasive alien species.

Since the establishment of the Yangtze River Delta Ecological Green Integrated Development Demonstration Zone, Qingpu Customs has closely collaborated with Wujiang Customs and Jiaxing Customs within the demonstration zone, adhering to the principle of “maintaining administrative affiliations while breaking administrative boundaries” to jointly promote customs system innovation and governance capacity building. “Our three customs offices have focused on the theme of ‘green ecological integration’ and established a joint prevention and control working group for national biosafety. Through online communication, centralized discussions, training, and drills, we jointly carry out national biosafety monitoring and strengthen the exchange of information and emergency responses related to vector organisms and invasive alien species monitoring among the three customs offices. This is one of the first cross-regional customs integrated collaborative enforcement projects within the demonstration zone,” said Chen Chao, Deputy Section Chief of the Second Goods Control and Inspection Section at Qingpu Customs.
