2025 National Civil Service Exam to Begin Tomorrow, with 3.416 Million Candidates Passing Qualification Review

The 2025 National Civil Service Exam Begins Tomorrow.

The written examinations for the 2025 recruitment of civil servants by central government agencies and their directly affiliated institutions, as well as the 2025 open selection and transfer of civil servants by central government agencies, are scheduled to be held from November 30 to December 1, 2024.

Reporters have noticed that prior to the exam, several regional examination authorities have released “pre-exam tips,” reminding candidates to print their admission tickets in advance, familiarize themselves with the exam venues and transportation routes, pay special attention to venues with similar names, and carefully read the relevant information and addresses on their admission tickets.

Examination authorities in provinces such as Qinghai have also warned that recent snowfall may lead to icy roads. Candidates are advised to stay informed about weather forecasts and traffic conditions, plan their routes and choose appropriate modes of transportation in advance to avoid disruptions due to traffic restrictions.

According to previous reports by CCTV News, the online registration and qualification review for the 2025 recruitment of civil servants by central government agencies and their directly affiliated institutions concluded on October 24 and October 26, 2024, respectively. A total of 3.416 million candidates passed the qualification review, resulting in a ratio of approximately 86 applicants for each position.

The State Administration of Civil Service has emphasized that candidates must confirm their registration before taking the exam. Those who have passed the qualification review can log in to the “2025 Recruitment of Civil Servants by Central Government Agencies and Their Directly Affiliated Institutions Special Website” from November 1 to November 6 to confirm their registration and pay the fees. They can then print their admission tickets and take the exam as scheduled.

Separately, a report by China Youth Daily and its website revealed that an analysis of the recruitment trends over the past seven years shows a gradual increase in the scale of the national civil service exam, with seven consecutive years of “expanded recruitment.” This year, 39,721 positions are available, an increase of 160 compared to the previous year. The 2025 recruitment continues to focus on strengthening and stabilizing grassroots forces, with 27,500 positions to be filled in county (district) level and below directly affiliated institutions.

In terms of position applications, competition for some positions is intense. For example, the position of a Level 1 Senior Clerk or below in the Liaison Department of the Chinese Vocational Education Society, which has only one vacancy, has attracted 16,702 applicants, resulting in a competition ratio of 16,702:1. This position is open to candidates with degrees in philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, or management, with no requirements for prior grassroots work experience or residency. The position also includes a professional skills test, covering Chinese-English translation and oral communication, which accounts for 15% of the overall score.
