After a retired Taiwanese major threatened the official from the Mainland during the visit to Zhuhai Air Show, the Mainland issued a response.
On the morning of November 27th, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference in the press conference hall of the Taiwan Affairs Office. Spokesperson Chen Binhua answered reporters’ questions on recent hot-button issues across the Taiwan Strait.
During the press conference, a reporter asked that in response to former Taiwan Navy captain and retired Major Lyu Lishi’s interview at the Zhuhai Air Show, where he expressed his desire to let Taiwan people know “how strong our China is,” some DPP representatives have proposed amendments to the “Regulations Governing Relations Between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area,” expanding the scope of regulation from retired generals to “personnel with the rank of major or above who receive a lifelong pension,” including depriving them of their monthly pension if they make “disloyal” statements or behaviors. What is the comment on this?
In response, Chen Binhua said, “I’m not sure if the DPP representatives who proposed the amendment have watched the old Taiwanese movie ‘Eight Hundred Heroes’ or sung the song ‘China Will Surely Be Strong’ from the film, but I know that many Taiwan compatriots have received education on being upright Chinese people and have passionately sung ‘China Will Surely Be Strong,’ expressing their eager anticipation for China’s prosperity and the rejuvenation of the nation.”
Chen Binhua pointed out that Mr. Lyu Lishi’s remarks after visiting the Zhuhai Air Show came from the heart and expressed sincere national sentiment, triggering strong resonance among compatriots across the Taiwan Strait. The antics of the DPP representatives not only expose the lies of their so-called “democracy and freedom” and “freedom of speech,” but also reveal their fear of the mainland’s strong strength.
