Title: Chinese Police in Collaboration with Myanmar Authorities Arrest Over 1,000 Suspected Telecom Fraudsters in Myanmar’s Dangyang Region
Content:
In order to deeply crack down on telecom and network fraud crimes involving China in northern Myanmar, comprehensively clear out fraud dens, and arrest fraud-related personnel in accordance with the law, the Ministry of Public Security recently deployed Yunnan public security organs to strengthen police law enforcement cooperation with relevant local law enforcement agencies in Myanmar. For the first time, 1,079 criminal suspects involved in cross-border telecom and network fraud were arrested in Myanmar’s Dangyang region, including 763 Chinese criminal suspects. Currently, all Chinese criminal suspects have been handed over to China. This is another significant breakthrough achieved in the depths of Myanmar since the launch of the special campaign against telecom and network fraud crimes involving China in northern Myanmar.
Since the Ministry of Public Security deployed the special campaign against telecom and network fraud crimes involving China in northern Myanmar last year, through police law enforcement cooperation and a series of crackdown operations, China and Myanmar have jointly arrested over 53,000 Chinese criminal suspects involved in fraud. All large-scale telecom fraud parks in northern Myanmar, which are close to China’s border, have been eradicated. Under strong crackdowns and deterrents, fraud-related personnel have continuously shifted to deeper areas such as Wanhai, Dangyang, and Miawadi in Myanmar, continuing to recruit and induce people within China to illegally exit the country to participate in telecom fraud crimes. This has led to serious violent criminal activities such as unlawful detention, intentional injury, and even kidnapping and murder, seriously endangering the lives and property of Chinese citizens.
The Ministry of Public Security attaches great importance to this and has deployed Yunnan public security organs to continuously strengthen police law enforcement cooperation, carrying out joint operations with relevant local law enforcement agencies in Myanmar. On November 17, 763 Chinese criminal suspects involved in fraud, including 69 fugitives, were arrested in Myanmar’s Dangyang region, with a large number of tools used for crimes such as computers, mobile phones, and fraud scripts seized. On November 19, the relevant criminal suspects and involved items were handed over to China through Yunnan’s Lincang Yonghe Port.
The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Public Security stated that the public security organs will continue to maintain a strict and high-pressure stance against cross-border telecom and network fraud crimes, and will further intensify police law enforcement cooperation, particularly in fraud den concentration areas such as Wanhai, Dangyang, and Miawadi in Myanmar, to resolutely eradicate the “cancer” of telecom and network fraud crimes involving China. Meanwhile, the public security organs remind the general public not to easily believe in high-salary job recruitment information from abroad, avoid falling into the trap of criminal offenses, and effectively protect their legitimate rights and interests.
