Wuliangye Accuses Online Platforms of Selling Counterfeit Products

On November 13, just after the conclusion of the Double 11 shopping festival, Wuliangye issued a statement condemning the sale of counterfeit products on online platforms. They reminded consumers to protect their rights and to purchase products only through the sales channels listed on the official Wuliangye website.

Yibin Wuliangye Co., Ltd. (Wuliangye, 000858) released a notice titled “Notice to Wuliangye Consumers (Part II)” on its official website, stating that the company’s free product authentication service has received widespread support and appreciation from consumers nationwide. According to statistics from this month’s activities, 12% of the 148 products authenticated from online purchases were found to be counterfeit.

Wuliangye emphasized that, based on the purchasing evidence provided by consumers, 77% of the counterfeit products, which amounts to 14 bottles, originated from a certain major e-commerce platform’s “Billion Subsidy” channel stores. The remaining four counterfeit bottles were sourced from other stores on different e-commerce platforms. Wuliangye clarified that these counterfeit-selling stores are not part of the sales channels published by the company.

Previously, on November 2, Wuliangye had issued a notice addressing consumer inquiries regarding the authenticity of Wuliangye products purchased at low prices from the “Billion Subsidy” section of certain e-commerce platforms.

Wuliangye advises consumers to buy products only through the sales channels listed on the official website and to always request invoices or other proof of purchase. Consumers can check the sales channels via the Wuliangye official website. To better serve consumers, the company has established multiple free product authentication service stations nationwide, where consumers can obtain free authentication services for Wuliangye products purchased. Appointments for this service can be made through the WeChat public account “Wuliangye Exclusive Store Cloud Store” under “Cloud Services” – “Authentication Services,” or by consulting the official customer service hotline at 95195.

In fact, as early as March 13 of this year, Wuliangye’s official website had also issued a statement regarding the sale of its liquor products on e-commerce platforms. At that time, Wuliangye stated that it had received multiple inquiries from consumers about the authenticity of Wuliangye products purchased at low prices from a certain e-commerce platform. Upon investigation, the company found that several stores on the platform were selling counterfeit Wuliangye products, which severely harmed the company’s reputation and consumer rights. The statement noted that Wuliangye had not opened an official flagship store on that platform and had not authorized any merchants to use “Wuliangye” in the names of stores opened on the platform. The company vowed to continue investigating the sale of counterfeit Wuliangye products on e-commerce platforms and to pursue legal accountability for any unlawful stores and negligent platforms through administrative complaints, reports, or judicial means.
