According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, China has made history today by becoming the first country in the world to produce over 10 million new energy vehicles (NEVs) in a single year. This milestone marks a significant achievement in the global automotive industry.
Production Growth Over the Years
Data reveals that 2013 was the first year when the production and sales of NEVs in China were officially recorded, with a mere output of 18,000 vehicles. By 2018, annual production reached the million mark. The growth trajectory continued, with production exceeding 5 million units in 2022. Now, just a month and a half before the end of the year, the production has surpassed 10 million, reflecting a 4.3% increase compared to last year’s total output of 9.587 million vehicles. Experts anticipate that this figure may exceed 12 million by the end of the year.
Strategic Development and Future Prospects
Over the past decade, guided by national strategies and supported by nearly a hundred encouraging policies, China’s NEV industry has experienced unprecedented growth. Continuous advancements in product technology and improvements in infrastructure have facilitated this leap in development. The industry has evolved from marketization and industrialization to scaling up and globalization, consistently reaching new heights.
Looking ahead, China’s NEV sector not only aims for quantity but also strives for quality improvements, contributing significantly to the global new energy industry and positioning itself as a leader in sustainable transportation solutions.
