Today is the fifth Chinese Police Day, and the spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security extended greetings to the public security police and auxiliary police officers who are committed to rescue operations in Tibet.
On January 10th, the Ministry of Public Security held a special press conference in Beijing to report on the achievements of public security agencies in maintaining national political security and social stability, ensuring high-level security for high-quality development, and escorting the Chinese modernization in the past year. It also introduced the arrangements for the fifth Chinese Police Day activities.
2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China, and it is also a critical year for achieving the goals and tasks of the 14th Five-Year Plan. Zhang Ming, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Security, introduced that the public security sector has promoted the implementation of various tasks and measures to comprehensively deepen public security reforms. The high-quality development of public security work has taken solid steps, and new combat capabilities of public security agencies have been continuously generated. In 2024, the number of criminal cases nationwide has decreased by 25.7% compared to the previous year, while the number of public security cases remains basically stable, and the social security situation remains stable.
“The achievements we have made cannot be separated from the active participation and strong support of all sectors of society and the people.” According to the report, a total of 208 police officers and 174 auxiliary police officers nationwide sacrificed their lives for duty in 2024, while 4743 police officers and 3710 auxiliary police officers were injured. Two were awarded the title of National Public Security System’s First-Class Heroes, 59 were awarded Second-Class Heroes, two individuals and six collectives were selected as “Public Security Role Models,” and 20 were named “The Most Beautiful Grassroots Police Officers.”
Zhang Ming introduced that on the occasion of the fifth Chinese Police Day, the Ministry of Public Security issued a notice, deploying public security agencies across the country to organize various forms of celebrations that are both grand and enthusiastic but also practical and thrifty. The main arrangements include: First, holding a police flag-raising ceremony. The Ministry of Public Security and local public security agencies will hold a solemn police flag-raising ceremony this morning (January 10) to inspire broad police officers to always remember their original intention and cast a loyal police soul through activities such as raising the police flag, singing the police anthem, and reviewing the oath of police officers.
Second, organizing “I Will Do Something for the People” activities. By deepening the creation of “Maple Bridge-style Public Security Stations” and activities such as “One Million Policemen Entering Ten Million Homes” and “Police-Civilian Talks,” they will focus on people’s urgent and difficult issues and work hard to meet their needs with dedication and love. Third is organizing police camp opening activities. A special event titled “Shiny Names – The Most Beautiful Grassroots Police Officers in 2024” was held to invite representatives from national heroes, college students in Beijing and beyond, social groups, and families of police officers to share stories with those who were selected as “The Most Beautiful Grassroots Police Officers.” This vividly demonstrates their unwavering loyalty to the party and people in this new era. A documentary about their stories will be broadcast on CCTV in the near future on special programs around Police Day activities about these efforts have also been filmed by CCTV. They provide psychological health services at grass-roots level by inviting professionals to conduct health education lectures on common injuries during law enforcement activities as well as offering psychological counseling services for police officers with physical health issues who need it most.
