Zeng Qingsheng (Jiang Zi), a winner of the Lu Xun Literary Award, has been elected as the chairman of the Jiangxi Provincial Writer’s Association.

According to the official WeChat account of the Jiangxi Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Ninth Congress of the Jiangxi Provincial Writers Association was held in Nanchang on December 30th, 2024. The meeting reviewed and approved in principle the working report titled “Bearing the Mission of Our Time, Climbing the Literary Summit, and Contributing to the Literary Power of Jiangxi Province in Creating the Chinese Modernization Chapter” presented by the Eighth Council, as well as the revised “Jiangxi Provincial Writers Association Charter”. Zeng Qingsheng (Jiang Zi) was elected as the new chairman of the Jiangxi Provincial Writers Association.

Jiang Zi, whose real name is Zeng Qingsheng, was born in July 1971 in Jishui, Jiangxi. His works have been published in magazines such as “People’s Literature,” “October,” “Beijing Literature,” “Tianya,” and “Zhongshan.” He has published collections of prose including “Blue and White Empire,” “Return Home Chronicles,” “Going to Linzhi to See Peach Blossoms,” “The Countryside Will Be Overgrown – Chronicles of Post-Rural Times,” “Mountains Like the Sea – Memories of Jinggangshan,” “West of Ganjiang River,” and “Practicing Hitting Balls in an Oracle.” He has received numerous awards such as the Eighth Lu Xun Literary Award, the Seventh Lu Xun Literary Award nomination, the Third Jiangxi Literary Arts Award, and the Second Sun Li Sanwen Award.

According to an article published by Jiangxi Government Party Building Network in November 2023, Zeng Qingsheng is not only a pacesetter and leader in Jiangxi literature but also a prolific creator who has won China’s top literary award, the Lu Xun Literary Award. He has made numerous effective contributions to promoting the prosperity and development of Jiangxi literature by making friends with writers, literature workers and literature enthusiasts across the province, and undertaking practical work in creation, research, talent building, and literature benefit for civilians.

In August 2022, Zeng Qingsheng’s collection of prose “Return Home Chronicles” won the Eighth Lu Xun Literary Award for Essays. This is the second time that a Jiangxi writer has received this prestigious award after Chen Shixu won the First Lu Xun Literary Award 24 years ago. It is also the first time that a Jiangxi prose work has won the Lu Xun Literary Award. The Lu Xun Literary Award is organized by the China Writers Association, awarded every four years, and is one of China’s highest literary honors.
