Zhu Xiaohua, 46, has been appointed as the president of Southwest University of Science and Technology. He was promoted to professor at the age of 33.
The updated official website of Southwest University of Science and Technology recently showed that Zhu Xiaohua has been appointed as the deputy secretary of the Party Committee and president of the Southwest University of Science and Technology.
Zhu Xiaohua is a male Han Chinese born in July 1978 in Heze, Shandong Province. He holds a Ph.D. in engineering and is currently a second-level professor, Ph.D. supervisor, and winner of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, China Association for Promotion of Science and Technology’s Chinese Youth Science and Technology Award, the national-level talent from the Ministry of Human Resources’ Hundred Million Talent Project, national leading talent, expert with special government allowance from the State Council, Excellent Young Scholar from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, outstanding talents of the new century from the Ministry of Education, academic and technical leader in Sichuan Province, and the recipient of Huo Yingdong Young Teacher Award, Sun Yueqi Youth Science and Technology Award, Sichuan Province’s Outstanding Youth and Sichuan Provincial Advanced Worker.
Zhu Xiaohua received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation from Southwest Petroleum Institute in July 2000 and his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Design and Theory from Southwest Petroleum University in July 2005. After graduation, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Dagang Oilfield Postdoctoral Workstation. He returned to Southwest Petroleum University to teach in July 2007, and then went on a visit to the Department of Engineering Mechanics at Tsinghua University from September 2009 to August 2010 as part of the Western Light访问学者Program.
He has served as the deputy director of the Mechanical Engineering Teaching and Research Office, assistant to the dean, vice dean of the Mechanical Engineering College at Southwest Petroleum University, deputy director of the Development Planning Office at Southwest Petroleum University, dean of the Mechanical Engineering College at Southwest Petroleum University, member of the Party Committee, and member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice president of Southwest Petroleum University. He was promoted to professor in 2011.
Zhu Xiaohua mainly focuses on theoretical and applied research in oil and gas well pipe column mechanics, downhole tools, and rock fragmentation. He has hosted 5 National Natural Science Foundation projects, published 215 papers with SCI检索, 61 papers with Chinese EI检索, and authored 3 books. As the first designer, he has obtained 70 authorized invention patents and 2 PCT patents, with more than 10 patent transfer licenses. He has also received the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and the first prize of Sichuan Science and Technology Progress Award twice.
In late November this year, in the pre-appointment announcement issued by the Party Organization Department of Sichuan Province, Zhu Xiaohua, member of the Standing Committee and vice president of Southwest Petroleum University, was appointed as the head of a provincial undergraduate university under provincial management.
Pengpai News noted that recently, Huang Qi, President of Southwest University of Science and Technology, has been appointed as Director of the Chinese Academy for Advanced Study of Sciences and Technologies Development Strategies.
