Enhancing the Integration of Artificial Intelligence and Manufacturing: The Competition Kicked off in Shanghai.
Industrial design is a crucial force in promoting industrial upgrading and enhancing product competitiveness.
From December 22nd to 24th, the “Zhengtai Cup” Fourth National Mechanical Industry Design Innovation Competition and the 2024 Shanghai (Songjiang) Industrial Big Model Design Competition, co-hosted by the China Machinery Industry Federation and China Machinery Metallurgical Building Materials Federation, was held in Songjiang, Shanghai.

This competition is targeted at enterprises, scientific research institutions, related universities, application undergraduate colleges, and vocational colleges (including technical schools) in the national machinery industry. It is divided into 13 categories such as automobile, electrical appliances, and engineering machinery. The purpose is to strengthen the exchange of cooperation and talent training among industry enterprises, scientific research institutions, and colleges and universities, strengthen the integration of AI + industrial design, artificial intelligence, and manufacturing industry development, accelerate the improvement of new productivity, design capabilities, and design transformation capabilities, and boost industry transformation and upgrading.
Since the registration started in August 2024, the competition has received more than 700 entries nationwide, and 521 entries met the requirements after the initial evaluation. After final答辩,26 units including Shanghai Engineering Technology University won the gold award; 50 enterprises including Ruiqi Holding won the silver award; and 75 enterprises including Junye Automation won the bronze award. The award ceremony was held on the 24th.
At the 2024 Mechanical Industry Design Innovation Theme Forum held on the same day, Academician Li Peigen, Lin Zhongqin, and Yang Huayong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering made presentations on “Opportunities and Challenges Faced by Designers in the Smart Era”, “The Core Technology of Mechanical Industry Upgrading is Innovative Design”, and “Some Exploration on Innovative Design and Manufacturing of Fluid Power Components”, respectively. Professor Yu Suihuan from Northwestern Polytechnical University and Li Naihu, Vice President of Zhengtai Electric Co., Ltd. and President of Zhengtai Group Research Institute also made keynote speeches.
In addition, with the full support of the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Songjiang District officially launched the “AI + Manufacturing” ecosystem matrix of the National Torch Songjiang Dongjing Artificial Intelligence Industry Base. Eight key projects have signed contracts to settle in Dongjing, Songjiang. To further promote the development of equipment manufacturing industry in Songjiang District, China Machinery Industry Federation will work together with Songjiang People’s Government of Shanghai to build a major technology transformation platform for equipment manufacturing industry in the National Torch Dongjing Artificial Intelligence Industry Base.
