Parents say the quality of school uniforms is poor, “easy to tear”. The store on behalf of the seller said they had already given feedback to the manufacturer and it could be exchanged.

Recently, Mr. Liang, a parent from Dongguan, Guangdong, reported to The Paper’s public interactive platform “Service Pai” (https://tousu.thepaper.cn) that the quality of school uniforms purchased at a designated校服代售点 in Zhangmutou Experimental Primary School is concerning. “After wearing them for more than half a year, the collar and cuff seams have撕裂. With a gentle pull, the material tears easily, indicating obvious quality issues.”

Mr. Liang reported that the school uniforms purchased have experienced varying degrees of撕裂 at the collar and cuffs after being worn for half a year.

In response, the person in charge of the school uniform sales outlet stated that the store has been authorized by the school to sell the uniforms and has been doing so for many years. “This year, there have been some parent complaints about quality issues. According to Mr. Liang, his child attends Zhangmutou Experimental Primary School in Dongguan. “The school uniforms are sold through a designated bookstore as a代售点. We have purchased our children’s school uniforms from this store for years, and they are required to wear them during school hours.” He purchased two summer short-sleeved school uniforms from the store on April 28th, each costing 65 yuan.

Mr. Liang stated that the school uniform sales outlet is located at a “Chenguang Wenhui Street” in Zhangmutou Town, Dongguan City. The store, named “Chenguang Wenhua (晨光文具)”, is the only authorized dealer of the experimental primary school’s school uniforms, as indicated by a sign in the store.

However, after wearing the purchased school uniforms for more than half a year, on December 19th, Mr. Liang discovered multiple “torn” areas on the cuff and collar while washing them. “I tried to gently pull at it, and it tore easily. It’s only been a few months since we bought it. His sister’s school uniform, which has been worn for over two years, is still intact, but this one has quality issues.”

Mr. Liang had previously reported the poor quality of the school uniforms to the dealer, but the dealer was defensive and denied the issue. “They claimed that it might be due to the children being naughty and causing the damage. However, I have purchased several sets in the past that have been worn for even longer periods without any such issues. I feel that the price does not match the quality.”

On December 23rd, The Paper contacted the person in charge of the school uniform sales outlet regarding this situation. The person in charge stated that their store is only responsible for selling authorized school uniforms for Zhangmutou Experimental Primary School and has been working with the school for many years. “There were no complaints in the past, but this year some parents have reported quality issues. On the same day, staff from Zhangmutou Experimental Primary School in Dongguan stated that they have reported this matter to their superiors and will address it promptly.
