On December 19, the 2024 China Newspaper Media Industry Artificial Intelligence Application Conference took place, followed by the launch of the “High-Quality Development Shanghai Tour Party Newspaper Research Activity.” After a day of events, attendees gathered at the Shanghai Museum to explore “At the Top of the Pyramid: The Great Exhibition of Ancient Egyptian Civilization,” experiencing a dialogue between two ancient civilizations across time and space.

The exhibition “At the Top of the Pyramid: The Great Exhibition of Ancient Egyptian Civilization” at the Shanghai Museum is the largest and highest-level exhibition of ancient Egyptian artifacts ever held globally, and it marks the first collaboration between a Chinese official museum and the Egyptian government to comprehensively unveil ancient Egyptian civilization and its latest archaeological discoveries. As a groundbreaking exhibition of ancient Egyptian civilization, it has become a vivid example of cultural exchange and mutual learning among world civilizations. At the exhibition, guides provided lively and detailed explanations of numerous exhibits, while attendees listened attentively and admired the artifacts, often taking photos with their phones.

Ye Tao, head of the Jiangxi News Client at Jiangxi Daily, told The Paper that the exhibition was “very shocking.” He believes the exhibition reflects the collision and exchange, change, and development of Western and Eastern civilizations. “In fact, ancient Egyptian civilization and our Chinese civilization share historical similarities, and during the development of culture, they also exhibit different diversities.”

Ye Tao also expressed that the conference content was highly beneficial to him, stating, “AIGC itself is an important scene for media. Through this conference, we can understand the future development trends of artificial intelligence and gain some insights.”

Jiang Zhi from the Dongyang Media Center in Zhejiang Province remarked, “Today’s conference is very advanced.” She felt that the forward-looking and thought-provoking content of the conference had a significant impact on her thinking. “After returning, I hope to explore what we, as a county-level media outlet, can do in terms of AI.”

The “High-Quality Development Shanghai Tour Party Newspaper Research Activity” that followed also left a deep impression on Jiang Zhi. While visiting the Shanghai Dazhong, she entered two small theaters, saying, “The atmosphere felt great. Since we have Hengdian Film and Television City, the immersive experience there is similar, and some digital content is also related.”

Jiang Zhi was particularly delighted by the visit to the exhibition on ancient Egyptian civilization, as she has a strong interest in ancient Egyptian culture and had heard about this exhibition beforehand. “Ancient Egyptian culture is quite complex and can be compared to our ancient Chinese culture. After listening to the explanations, I feel that my knowledge is still too lacking; it would be better if I had more historical and cultural knowledge.”

She concluded that the day’s agenda was very rewarding for her, stating, “From the morning AI conference to the afternoon field research and practical visits, and then to the evening visit to the ancient Egyptian exhibition, it was an improvement for me from thought to practice.”
