The Shanghai Municipal Government delegation has arrived in Taipei to participate in the “2024 Shanghai-Taipei City Forum.”

Hua Yuan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor of Shanghai, arrived in Taipei on the 16th with a delegation from the Shanghai municipal government to attend the “2024 Shanghai-Taipei City Forum” held on the 17th.

On the evening of the 16th, the delegation members attended a welcome dinner hosted by the Taipei City Government. In his speech, Hua Yuan remarked that over the years, under the guidance of the “Twin Cities Forum,” the interactions between the two cities have grown increasingly close, with deepening economic and trade cooperation and vibrant cultural exchanges that have continually enhanced the well-being of the people. The timely hosting of the “Twin Cities Forum” is a significant event for the exchanges and cooperation between the two cities, representing a positive development for peace and integration across the strait. He expressed confidence that through joint efforts, the exchanges and mutual learning between Shanghai and Taipei will deepen, the fields of cooperation will expand, and both cities will continue to enhance urban governance efficiency, achieving higher quality urban development and better serving the livelihoods of citizens in both Shanghai and Taipei.

Taipei Mayor Jiang Wan-an welcomed the Shanghai municipal government delegation to Taipei. He stated that despite the challenges, the two cities have come together, overcoming many difficulties. He wished for fruitful outcomes from this forum and expressed a commitment to working together for the betterment of both cities and peaceful relations across the strait.

During the dinner, the two cities exchanged gifts. Shanghai presented Taipei with an artistic ceramic vase titled “Spring Full of the World,” featuring a design that perfectly blends the modern cityscape of Shanghai with the traditional beauty of its city flower, the white magnolia, symbolizing the aspiration for the people of both cities to connect and thrive together. Taipei gifted Shanghai a ceramic plate featuring the Taipei Dome, specially made to commemorate the completion and opening of this new landmark, symbolizing the Taipei City Government’s determination to make Taipei a “City of Sports” and a “City of Health.”

On the afternoon of the same day, the Shanghai municipal government delegation visited the Guangci Bo’ai Park in Taipei.
