The Director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce visits secondary dimension merchants: it is necessary to deeply study the consumption characteristics of young people.

According to the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, on December 14, Director Zhu Min led a team to New World City and the First Department Store to conduct in-depth research on the participation of relevant enterprises in the old-for-new home appliance and home goods exchange activities, as well as the preparations for the city’s New Year shopping season.

At New World City, Zhu Min visited various merchants in the two-dimensional (anime and gaming) sector to understand the development of the industry. He also gathered detailed information on the operational status of home appliance, home textile, and dining merchants within the mall, and examined the implementation of the old-for-new policy and dining consumption voucher policy. He encouraged relevant enterprises to fully seize the opportunity of government subsidies to enhance product and service quality and maximize the use of policies to boost sales.

At the First Department Store, Zhu Min closely reviewed the company’s sales performance this year, the effectiveness of integrated business, travel, and cultural activities, as well as preparations for the New Year shopping season. He engaged in in-depth discussions with enterprises regarding the current consumption situation and future measures to stimulate consumption.

Zhu Min emphasized that Shanghai is an international consumption center and a hub for fashionable consumption. Nanjing Road is a renowned shopping district, a must-visit destination for both domestic and international consumers. Shanghai must implement national policies to promote consumption and expand domestic demand with high quality, accurately align with policy directions, increase promotion efforts, and enhance implementation efficiency.

Firstly, it is essential to study the consumption characteristics of young people in depth, introduce more new, quality, and trendy products, and create a vibrant consumption hub for the youth. Secondly, the city should effectively utilize national ultra-long-term government bond funds and other consumption-promoting policies, strengthen publicity, optimize services, and enhance the quality and quantity of consumption to better meet the public’s aspirations for a better life. Thirdly, preparations for the New Year shopping season should be well organized, maintaining the synergy of business, travel, culture, and sports exhibitions, innovating activity formats, and launching a combination of “activities + products + services” to enhance the enjoyment and experience of on-site consumption, thereby creating a unique festive atmosphere in the international consumption center city.
