Liu Jie, born in the 1970s, has been appointed as the Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Zhejiang Provincial Government.

According to the WeChat public account “Zhejiang Release,” on the morning of December 13, the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee held an expanded meeting to convey and study the spirit of the Central Economic Work Conference and to discuss the implementation measures for the province.

Zhejiang Provincial Party Secretary Wang Hao presided over the meeting, conveying the important speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping at the Central Economic Work Conference and delivering remarks. Provincial Party Deputy Secretary and Secretary of the Provincial Government Party Group Liu Jie conveyed the summary speech requirements of Premier Li Qiang at the meeting. Lian Yimin was also present.

The above news indicates that Liu Jie has been appointed as the Secretary of the Party Group of the Zhejiang Provincial Government.

Liu Jie was born in January 1970 in Danyang, Jiangsu. He joined the Communist Party in December 1996 and began working in August 1992. He holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in engineering and is a senior engineer. He is a candidate member of the 20th Central Committee.

Liu Jie has worked for a long time in the steel industry, serving in various positions including assistant general manager, deputy general manager, and general manager of Xiangtan Iron and Steel Group. In 2008, he became the director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce. In 2011, Liu was transferred to serve as the deputy secretary of the Xinyu Municipal Committee and mayor of Xinyu in Jiangxi Province, and he became the municipal party secretary in 2013.

In September 2016, Liu Jie was appointed as the deputy secretary-general of the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee (at the level of a department head) and was elected as a member of the Provincial Party Committee in November of the same year, becoming the first provincial party committee member born in the 1970s in the country at that time. He also served as the secretary-general of the Provincial Party Committee. In 2018, Liu Jie moved to Guizhou, where he served as a member of the Provincial Party Committee and secretary-general of the Provincial Party Committee. In July 2020, he took on additional responsibilities as a member of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee, secretary-general, and head of the Organization Department, subsequently resigning from the position of secretary-general.

In December 2021, Liu Jie took on a new role across provinces, serving as a member of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and secretary of the Hangzhou Municipal Committee.

Since October 2023, Liu Jie has served as the deputy secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and secretary of the Hangzhou Municipal Committee.
