Addressing Cases of Consumers Being Denied Car Delivery After Participating in the “Grab a 6,399-yuan Electric Bike for 300 yuan” Activity on Short Video Platforms, Ninebot Issues Official Statement on November 15
On the morning of November 9, Ninebot launched a flash sale for the M95c+ electric motorcycle through the Douyin local lifestyle platform, displaying the discounted price of the product as 300 yuan. However, it did not clearly indicate that this amount was a “deposit,” leading some consumers to mistakenly believe that this price was the final purchase price of the vehicle. In reality, the discounted price of this electric motorcycle was 5,799 yuan, with 300 yuan serving only as a deposit.
Two hours after the activity started, the operations team noticed abnormal orders and immediately removed the product from the shelf, but a large number of users had already completed their purchases at that time.
According to a report by Nanjing Zero Distance on Nanjing Broadcasting Group, consumers such as Xiao Chen and Mr. Feng stated that after participating in the activity, they successfully placed orders and paid 300 yuan. However, when they went to the store to pick up their vehicles, they were told that their “orders could not be verified” and were unable to successfully collect their electric bikes. Other consumers also reported encountering the same issue, and some found through online searches that 88 people in a group chat had similarly faced difficulties.
In response to this incident, Ninebot stated in its announcement that the e-commerce operations department did not clearly mark the word “deposit” on the detail page during the activity setup process, leading to misunderstandings among some users who mistakenly thought that 300 yuan was the purchase price of the vehicle. Ninebot expressed deep apologies for the inconvenience caused to users and committed to processing the verification and cancellation according to the original platform’s timeline, meaning that all nearly 500 users who placed orders could pick up their vehicles at the deposit price of 300 yuan before November 30, 2024.
The statement also mentioned that consumers could further consult or handle related matters through Ninebot’s official consumer hotline (400-607-0001).
Furthermore, Ninebot stated that it would continue to communicate with users and provide more solutions. In the future, it would enhance the review and transparency of subsequent platform activities to prevent similar issues from occurring again, striving to make consumers feel the company’s sincerity and responsibility.
